Starting system

The start boost system (SBS) uses super capacitor technology to provide extra energy during engine start-up.

Our SBS provides extra energy on the 28 VDC network during engine start-up. This helps to enhance the torque versus speed characteristic provided by the DC starter-generator. It also helps to overcome some battery deficiencies especially at low temperatures.

Our power current controller (PCC) controls the transient starting torque provided by the DC machine to the engine in order to dramatically reduce torque ripples and overshoots increasing the DC motor reliability. The maximum torque is no longer dependent on electrical source, battery temperature or wiring.

  • Steady applied torque

Our PCC controls the transient starting torque provided by the DC machine to the engine. The maximum torque is no longer dependent on electrical source, battery temperature or wiring.

Our power electronics implement state of the art technologies and control techniques to handle higher currents (400 A at 15 kHz switching frequency) even at low temperature. Well proven control and observation algorithms are implemented to control the actual torque, speed and flux variables.
