DC/DC converters

Provide DC electrical power from  DC source.

Features and benefits

Wide range of power converters to provide DC electrical power for aerospace networks. They can include simple or complex embedded monitoring, allowing operators to manage external components or equipment.

DC/DC converter

These are mainly DC-DC converters with galvanic isolation between the input and output.

  • Regulated Converters

Used to create high quality DCV networks. They hold network voltage within ±1.5 % of rated voltage up to the rated current; then limit power on the output (up to the defined overload) and finally manage a short circuit current limitation.

These units present ratings between 200 A and 400 A for 28 VDC networks.

  • Step-up Converters

Provide HVDC from 28 VDC for specific power application (e.g. APU starting, cooling compressor etc). Output voltage ratings of 270 VDC or 540 VDC, up to 10 kW.

Other features include:

  • Embedded fan, removing the need for a blown air circuit on the aircraft
  • Monitoring and communication module, to manage part of the surrounding environment
  • Embedded firmware and/or software

Certification approvals for power converters

DO178 certified software (up to DAL B)
DO254 certified hardware (up to DAL B)

Applications

Used on commercial or military platforms in the following applications:

  • DC power for applications needing different voltages to the one on the network
